Lights in the Mirror was commissioned by the Yahata High School Band (Fukuoka, Japan) on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of their annual concert in august 2016.
Mirroring and looking at the heart of yourself at all times, and walking the road of honesty: a poem written by the principal.
You will enjoy this bold and dynamic composition, that will appeal to all audiences with its powerful rhythms and bright harmonies. Very effective for concert or contest performances.
福岡県立八幡高等学校吹奏楽部の第30回定期演奏会記念委嘱作品。
「心の鏡に映しみて自らを常に顧み、誠一筋の道を歩む」という同校の初代校長の詠んだ歌にインスピレーションを得て作曲しました。生徒の皆さんの心を映す鏡は光り輝くものであって欲しいという思いを込めたタイトルであり、また英題のLight(ライト)はRight即ち「誠」にもかかっています。
2016年8月10日及び11日に開催された同演奏会にて初演。
